Meraas, one of UAE’s best-known holding companies, was making a foray into the world of cinemas. The conglomerate created Roxy Cinemas with an aim to offer a premium and luxurious movie-going experience in Dubai. Influx, with its vast experience in the cinema space, was retained to develop Roxy Cinemas’ digital properties including website, mobile apps and kiosks.
Roxy wanted its website and apps to have a fresh look, and move away from the standard cinema website/apps that currently exist. We built the Roxy Cinemas website with Vista integration, and gave it a minimalistic look and feel, incorporating the straight line adopted from the X in ROXY in the design.
The UI/UX complemented each other in a visually-appealing layout with subtle graphic treatment, chunky headlines, easy-to-read typeface, good-sized images, solid colours, and plenty of white space. In keeping with the look of the website, we developed copy that was smart, yet casual, with taglines drawn from cinema to spark familiarity and surprise at well-remembered movie quotes. The tone of voice used was consistently engaging throughout the website in order to shape and project Roxy’s overall personality.
We designed and developed native mobile apps using Swift for iOS and Java for Android. We used Payfort for payment gateway integration in both these apps.
Influx designs and sends out weekly newsletters to all of Roxy Cinemas’ subscribers. These showcase the latest movies, offers and cinema news.
